SUMMARY:Developing a Skills System to Support Business Growth
DESCRIPTION:An interactive skills workshop which will be looking to identify your immediate skills needs\, and understand your skills gaps. \nWithin business and industry\, people are your greatest asset and often the biggest challenge. Ensuring that you have a labour force with the adequate skills to do the job is key\, as is having the ability to recruit\, retain\, upskill and reskill as needed to adapt to the changing needs of industry. \nCome along to our interactive skills workshop which will be looking to identify your immediate skills needs\, understand your skills gaps (current and future) and help to shape the future of skills provision. \nClaire Cook\, Skills Development and Employer Engagement Officer\, will be in hand to help with all things recruitment and training; Alex Whelan\, Economic Inclusion and Career Development Coordinator\, can help you to understand how you can inspire the future workforce by working with local Schools; Tyne Coast College will be at the event to understand the needs of our local businesses and Mark David\, Skills Project Manager at the NEAA will talk about the Local Skills Improvement Plan and how it can help your business. \nThe Local Skills Improvement Plan \nThe NEAA has been appointed by the Department for Education to lead the development of a new Local Skills Improvement Plan for the North East. It is working with businesses\, education and training providers to develop a plan which meets future business needs. \nThe Local Skills Improvement Plan will tailor skills provision in the region to the needs of employers based on the feedback employers give as part of the LSIP programme. All the feedback given by businesses as part of the LSIP process will be compiled into a statutory document\, which will shape skills provision over the next 3 years\, providers will then be held accountable by Ofsted on how they respond to those needs. This means your opinions have weight and will bring in change. \nWe want to know about the skills gaps of current and potential employees\, what skills you need now\, what you will need in the future\, what you find difficulty accessing and how you would like skills delivered. We also want to know some of the barriers to accessing skills. \nYour views will not only be fed directly into the Local Skills Improvement Plan but will be used to shape provision that South Tyneside Council will offer. \nDuring this friendly and interactive workshop we will be discussing key areas such as: \n\nHow do you anticipate and define what future core capabilities (areas of strategic strength) are required for your business to ensure continued success?\nWhat is determining the rate of adoption and nature of transition to these new capability requirements?\nWhere do you currently have gaps in your skill requirements?\nAre these skills readily available in the employment market?\nWhere would you find these skills?\nAre you competitive in attracting these skills?\n\nBook here

SUMMARY:North East Local Skills Improvement Plan Workshop Webinar - Construction
DESCRIPTION:North East Automotive Alliance (NEAA) has been tasked with carrying out research on behalf of the Department of Education to look at skills provision in the North East (Sunderland\, South Tyneside\, Gateshead and County Durham) area and draw up a Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP). \nThe aim of the LSIPs is to place employers at the heart of the skills system by consulting with and then articulating the skills needs of employers. We are looking at a number of sectors and crosscutting themes but skills requirements in construction sector has been identified as a key sector. \nProviders (colleges\, private training providers) and funding bodies will then be required to take account of the LSIPs when commissioning future courses. To give LSIPs and the voice of employers some extra weight\, providers will be assessed by Ofsted on their adherence to it. \nThe Construction industry Training Board (CITB) and Constructing Excellence in the North East (CENE) are supporting NEAA with the construction sector skills analysis and would like to invite you to this webinar.
