North East Local Skills Improvement Plan – Construction
North East Automotive Alliance (NEAA) has been tasked with carrying out research on behalf of the Department of Education to look at skills provision in the North East (Sunderland, South Tyneside, Gateshead and County Durham) area and draw up a Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP).
The aim of the LSIPs is to place employers at the heart of the skills system by consulting with and then articulating the skills needs of employers. We are looking at a number of sectors and crosscutting themes but skills requirements in construction sector has been identified as a key sector.
Providers (colleges, private training providers) and funding bodies will then be required to take account of the LSIPs when commissioning future courses. To give LSIPs and the voice of employers some extra weight, providers will be assessed by Ofsted on their adherence to it.
The Construction industry Training Board (CITB) and Constructing Excellence in the North East (CENE) are supporting NEAA with the construction sector skills analysis and would like to invite you to this workshop.
